It's been an eventful ten years; a lot has happened in my world. I've been through a whirlwind of changes, both good and also unpleasant. I managed to write and record a new album (Zephyr) during the pandemic, but I'm not sure how I did that amidst all that was going on then. The world seemed to be ending, I had recently graduated with a new degree for a new career but couldn't find work at the time, a rocky relationship was coming to a painful end, and I had recently lost my father. I suppose, at the time, music was, as it so often is for me, an escape. I dove into the creative process and poured my grieving into the album while trying to also leave room for hope. Since the release of Zephyr, I have written two new songs that I plan to include on the next album. And right now, I am starting to get ideas for songs for the next album, taking some time to plan out the theme, the sound, the mood, the approach. What most people don't take into account in regards to recording in the studio, is first, the cost of the studio equipment, and finding a good space in which to set up a recording studio. I have had neither since the recording of Zephyr. I am always amazed how other artists obtain the money to cover the cost of recording an album in a professional studio. Confoudingly, it is one of the most difficult chunk of designated funds to achieve. That may be because I would rather simply do it myself; and that means investment in a space, and all the recording hardware to put into that space.
I've started to write for a new album, and although I don't have a solid time frame yet, I hope to have something to release by next Fall (2025), maybe sooner. The first step (other than writing) is shopping for a new live-in studio space (because where I live now, recording space is not an option, whatsoever). There is a mountain range of inspiration here in Western Washington, but the space in which to make an album is a little more challenge. So, stay tuned for more new album and song news! I may have new singles to release as soon as May or June.
